Defensive Handgun

This is our most popular course - for everyone from beginners to those with experience with handguns. If you carry or are considering carrying a handgun, or have one in your home, this course is a must. Hundreds of students have completed this course - students have ranged from those with no experience to experts with handguns - all have left with a new perspective on carrying a firearm for self defense, the deployment and application of the firearm and confidence in their knowledge and skills.


You will begin by learning the legal aspects and responsibilities of carrying a handgun for self defense, self defense shooting and firearm safety. We cover material on handgun selection, holster selection and caliber. You will learn the fundamentals of obtaining a fighting stance and the importance of achieving the proper grip on the handgun. We will address shooter diagnostics and get you hitting the target at the point of aim. You will shoot from contact distance to 100 feet successfully placing effective shoots on target.


This is a one day course and consists of classroom and range time. A minimum of 150 rounds of ammunition will be required for the course

Individuals will be required to bring their own ammunition (no reloads, factory only) and serviceable handgun. A strong side holster is required.

The following items should be brought to class:
1.Safety glasses
2.Hearing protection
3.Strong side hip holster
4.Brimmed hat
5.Extra magazines or speed loaders
6.Serviceable semi automatic pistol or revolver
7.Ammunition appropriate for the handgun you will be using (no reloads, factory only)
8.Note pad and pen/pencil
9.Gun cleaning kit
10.Surdy belt that fits holster and belt loops
11.Concealment garment

Please consider the season when making selections of clothing, bug spray, and sun block.
